1 Open Position:

Field Assistant (2024 Pennsylvania Season)

May 15, 2024 Update: We are continuing to consider applicants. Interested in the position? Apply today! We will fill the role and respond to all applicants within 24 hours.

This is a temporary position to help operate three Bad Adventures trips in Pennsylvania between May 18 and June 16, 2024. You’ll join our guides leading 30 kayakers as they paddle 136 miles over 9 days on the Susquehanna River. You’ll also assist in the operation of our Paddle Happy: Schuylkill and Paddle Happy: Juniata large river trips.

The field assistant position is entirely land-based. You will not have on-water responsibilities.

Previous experience as an outdoor industry professional is not required, but could contribute to a candidate standing out.

Camping accommodations are provided during and between trips.

Meals are provided during trips. Leftover trip food may be available for our team members between trips.

The adventures you’ll help operate are staging in Lewisburg, PA. If you’re not local to Pennsylvania, you’ll need to fly to PA on May 16 or 17. Your date traveling home will be June 17 or 18. If you’re the right candidate, Bad Adventures may consider paying for and/or reimbursing your travel expenses.

There will be a mid-season break from June 5 to June 12. No work will be assigned on these days.

The field assistant position is a good way to get a sense of how Bad Adventures trips work. If you anticipate applying for our Junior Guide job when it opens later this year, having spent time in this PA field assistant role may be helpful.

The field assistant role reports to and is supervised by the trip lead. Training in our field operation systems and training in food handing safety are provided.

Our most successful team members thrive on sharing outdoor trips with the adventurers in our community. They feel genuine pleasure when serving others. And, they’re able to maintain a sunny disposition in the face of hard work over many days. If this sounds like you, apply today!
